Service interval changes for extreme conditions

Extreme conditions are defined as:
  • Extended driving in extremely high temperatures (over 90oF/32oC)
  • Extended driving in extremely dusty, sandy, or salty areas
  • Continuous mountain driving
  • Trailer towing
  • Predominantly stop-and-go urban traffic
  • Predominantly trips of 5mi/8km or less
  • Predominantly trips of 10mi/16km or less while outside temperature remains below 32oF/0oC
  • Vehicle is used for delivery services, police, taxi, or other commercial applications
  • Driving continuously in excess of normal highway speeds

If these conditions exist, the service intervals should be altered as follows:
  • Change engine oil and filter at half of recommended interval
  • Replace air filter every 12 months and/or 15,000mi/24,000km
  • Change automatic transmission fluid and filter every 30,000mi/48,000km
