Our AAN-engined cars have electronic fuel injection. The pressure for these injectors comes from a fully immersed fuel pump that sends the fuel through a large serviceable fuel filter, PN 893133511, located on the passenger side inner fender.
PNs for the needed filter, adapter and crush washers (PN N0138128, A12 x 15.5 mm x 1.5 mm - Item 5 - need 2) are shown here:
Some filters come with the adapter, as shown here:
Some filters come without the adapter (see below). If this is the case, save the old adapter and move it to the adapter-less filter (with a new N013814A (A14 x18) crush washer between the adapter and the filter):
Changing the fuel filter requires that you break open (loosen) connections that are under pressure. This is messy and dangerous. Therefore, to release pressure, start the engine and then pull Fuse No.17 (drivers door side dash fuse panel) and let the engine run until it stops. Then you can loosen the connections (have a rag or two to soak up any fuel dribbles - be cautious).
