Lower IM after cleaning

 


Here's the lower/larger half of the manifold. You can see a diagonal telltale where it sat half in the acid wash a little longer than it should have. Remember, due to size I had to do this manifold section in two halves. As you can see by the throttle body flange it doesn't appear on the outside half and I could probably rid myself of it if I wanted to scrub hard enough. But where it is it will never be seen nor have any affect whatever on the finished piece.

This piece was more work than the top half as it has many many nooks, crannies, and cast-in shapes. I had to scrub it with a toothbrush, small stainless steel wire brush and a nylon brush in the short ports beside each fuel injector leading into the cylinder head. Nothing hard or very stubborn in the way of stains but it didn't just go from the wash to rinse as the upper half did. Maybe 30 minutes hand-work involved.
