11 PSI Boost for the '86 to '90 10V Turbo Engine

The Audi 160 HP turbo engine runs 1.3 bar boost.     This can be raised to 1.7 bar boost by changing the wastegate spring and making some wiring changes.     I had a batch of modified springs made, and I'm selling them with instructions for $35.

What I've got are replacement wastegate springs, that I had made
for the 86-89 MC code engine. I believe they are also suitable
for other cars, but I haven't tested them in others ... I had an
86 5kCSTQ when I made these.

I've also got several pages of instructions on how to install
the spring and how to wire a bypass for the engine computer's
overboost control. Yes, it's possible to modify the overboost
cutoff threshold in the ECU, but the down and dirty way is to
hook up a one wire bypass; the major bad part is that the bypass
wire also defeats the ECU's RPM limiter function.

These will increase the boost from 1.3 bar on the dash guage to
1.6 - 1.7 bar. You can further shim this with a 1/8" washer to
get another 0.1 bar boost - giving 1.7 to 1.8 Bar.

The seat of the pants improvement is very noticable.

By limiting boost to the 1.7 bar level, it seems to work acceptably
with the stock ECU mapping for timing and boost control. To get
optimum power at boost levels higher than this, you really need to
install modifications to the ECU. There is at least one place I can
recommend to do this, which is "Intended Acceleration", which is run
by Ned Ritchie, his phone number is 360-754-1411 and his web site
is http://www.intendedacceleration.com/

Ned at Intended Acceleration has modifications for boost even higher
than 1.8 bar, of course with the cost being commensurately higher.

I'm not running a business, and I'm not trying to make any money from
this project. If you want one (or more), send me your mailing address
and I'll ship it to you. After you receive it, you can send me a check
for $35 per spring, or pay me via PayPal. Here's a list of people
who have never paid after receiving a spring and instructions.
